The Coder participates as an integral member of the records management team by ensuring the quality maintenance of patient protected health information, within all laws, rules and regulations of federal and state licensing agencies, and The Joint Commission standards for the quality of patient care. Non-exempt position.
Education: Graduation from a health information management program preferred, high school graduate or equivalent required.
Experience: At least two (2) years experience in health information management/medical records and a thorough knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Licensure: RHIT or RHIA.
Hours of Work: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; other times as indicated by immediate supervisor. May be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours.
