Good Morning Everyone,
It has been a pleasure seeing so many of you in Miami these last couple of days—Pam and I always enjoy the chance to see you all in person!
I wanted to take a moment to update you all on where are at with Part 2 reform. Over the last couple of days some of you saw reports that the final opioid package was not going to include HR 6082. Late last night, House and Senate leaders released the text of the conference report and indeed, HR 6082 was not included.
This of course is a huge disappointment. However, it is important for us to continue to message about how important Part 2 reform is and highlight that many of the provisions of the opioid package do not work as well without access to a person’s substance use disorder record. Over the next couple of weeks we work with House and Senate staff to determine next steps and I will continue to keep you all updated.
In the meantime, for those interested, please find here the link to the section-by-section summary of the final conference report of HR 6: https://energycommerce.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/HR6_09.26.18-Final-Opioid-Sec-by-Sec_BIPART-BICAM.pdf
