Roles & ResponsibilitiesPresident Responsibilities:This is a three (3) year commitment. The President represents IHIMA in all areas concerning the Health Information Management profession and serves as a Delegate. The President prepares and presides over the Executive Board and Membership meetings. President-Elect Responsibilities:This is a three (3) year commitment. The President-Elect chairs the Strategic Planning Committee and serves as a Delegate. Past-President Responsibilities:This is a three (3) year commitment. The Past President remains active in IHIMA business as a member of the Strategic Planning Committee and coordinates budgeting activities. Secretary Responsibilities:This is a one (1) year commitment. The Secretary is active in IHIMA business as a member of the Strategic Planning Committee and records the official business of IHIMA. Treasurer Responsibilities:This is a two (2) year commitment. The Treasurer controls the disbursement and receipt of all IHIMA related funds. Financial Reports are submitted at regular intervals. Delegate Responsibilities:This is a two (2) year commitment. Delegates are elected by the membership. Each Delegate is responsible for communicating IHIMA and AHIMA information to regional association members as well as listening to these members allowing the exchange of grassroots information with the Executive Board and AHIMA through the House of Delegates. Regional President Responsibilities:The President’s of each Indiana HIM Regional Association are voting members of the IHIMA Executive Board. Regional Presidents provide insight on issues affecting their respective regions. Annual Meeting Responsibilities:This committee is responsible for planning and coordinating the IHIMA’s Annual Meeting held each Spring. Committee needs at least 4-5 volunteers to help secure speakers and organize tasks. Communication Responsibilities:This committee facilitates the Indiana Engage Community, IHIMA social media accounts, and develops newsletters for the IHIMA membership. Also assists the Central Office Coordinator as needed in maintaining website updates and/or all pertinent communications to members. Legislative Responsibilities:This committee promotes the visibility of IHIMA with State and Federal legislators and regulatory agencies. Also provides input into the development of legislation related to health information practice in cooperation with affiliated societies. This committee also maintains the Release of Information Guide. Nominating Responsibilities:This committee prepares the ballot of officers for membership voting and nominates members for the AHIMA Triumph Awards. This committee also coordinates IHIMA Distinguished Member, Professional Achievement, and Rising Star Awards. Professional Development Responsibilities:This committee is responsible for coordinating workshops and other educational activities for IHIMA except for the Annual Meeting. Project Development Responsibilities:This committee performs special tasks or project through out the year and reports back to the Executive Board and membership. |
