Indiana Advocacy EffortsThe IHIMA Legislative Committee and Board of Directors work to support advocacy efforts at the national and state level. IHIMA members attend the AHIMA Advocacy Summit and Hill Day and participate in Indiana’s Hill Day - IHIMA Day at the Statehouse. Both of these initiatives provide an opportunity to educate elected officials on the issues impacting the health information profession. Great turnout at the 2023 IHIMA Day at the Indiana Statehouse! 2021 AHIMA Virtual Advocacy SummitAt the 2021 AHIMA Virtual Advocacy Summit, held May 17-18, 2021, it was announced that Indiana placed #5 for Advocacy by AHIMA! Indiana followed California, Illinois, Texas, and Florida as a result of IHIMA’s level of involvement and advocacy efforts so far in 2021. We believe our voices are being heard and our legislators have a greater understanding of health information’s role in the overall healthcare system. Keep up the great work! 2019 Advocacy Summit in Washington, DCIHIMA gained national recognition through our grassroot efforts. IHIMA was recognized at the 2019 Advocacy Summit in Washington, DC. Lauren Riplinger, JD, Vice President of Policy & Government Affairs at AHIMA, made a special announcement congratulating IHIMA on our grassroot efforts that have grown in our state.
